Healthcare Licensing Support Ltd is a UK based organisation which exists to provide appraisal, revalidation and Responsible Officer services to Doctors with a GMC licence to practise. Doctors have a statutory requirement to participate in the annual appraisal process, followed by revalidation every five years. The annual appraisal is based on the GMC’s Good Medical Practice Guidance.


We are an established company with extensive and working knowledge of the revalidation and appraisal process and the resources to be able to assist you with your appraisal and revalidation requirements. If you require support with any element of the process - appraisal, revalidation or Responsible Officer Services, we can help.


We pride ourselves on working closely with our clients (doctors and designated bodies) and have built a reputation for the support and assistance we provide throughout the appraisal and revalidation process.


The majority of our team have previous NHS experience working with medical professionals. Wendy the Managing Director was instrumental in the development of the process within an NHS Trust prior to the formal inception of the process on 3 December 2012.


We also provide a dedicated Account Manager throughout your journey for support and advise.


We provide strengthened appraisals from trained Consultant appraisers who give career advice and peer review and we develop individual actions plans as part of the strengthened appraisal process.


Our core work is generated from agencies who employ locum Doctors, however we also provide appraisal services to hospitals and independent Doctors with no prescribed connection.


We also offer trained Case Investigator services for Doctors in Difficulty and can provide medical staffing support with job planning and rota management.

The Organisation has 2 Directors, headed by Ms Wendy Bailes, Managing Director. Wendy was herself Professional Lead for Revalidation, Appraisal and Job Planning in her previous role at a NHS Trust (designated body) and led the implementation of revalidation for the Trust in 2012. She has 26 years’ experience working within the NHS with Doctors and has extensive knowledge of revalidation and appraisal.


The Trust was recognised as an exemplar organisation by NHS England for the work undertaken by Wendy in implementing the process and developing the policies and procedures. Through her work, the organisation was one of a handful of Trusts in the UK who achieved greater than 95% compliance for submission of outcomes of Consultant appraisal to NHS England during the first year.


Wendy is also a trained Case Investigator for Doctors in Difficulty and has extensive job planning and medical rota implementation experience. She has worked in a NHS setting with Doctors for 26 years.




MRS JULIE BULLOCK - director



Julie has 17 years previous experience of working in a Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Acute Trust settings. She has a wide-range of experience within the NHS from Project Management to Service Delivery. In her last role in the NHS she held the position of Cancer Services Manager. She has worked with Doctors for 20 years.



MS FREDA BAGNAL - Director PA



Freda also has a wealth of NHS experience having worked as a P.A. to a Senior Director in a PCT prior to working as a P.A. for Board of Directors in an Acute hospital. She has 24 years’ experience in an NHS setting prior to joining HLS Ltd in August 2014.



MRS TRISH PATEL - Account Manager



Trish joined HLS Ltd in January 2016 as Account Manager. She manages the Doctors who work through locum agencies on a day-to-day basis, supporting them through the revalidation and appraisal process.


She was previously employed by the NHS working in an Acute Trust from September 2000. Her main job during this time was Cancer Services tracking lead. Trish has many years’ experience of working with Doctors.




MISS SARAH BURNS - Account Manager



Sarah joined HLS Ltd in October 2015 as Account Manager. She manages the Doctors who work through locum agencies on a day-to-day basis, supporting them through the revalidation and appraisal process.


Sarah was previously employed by the NHS in an Acute Trust from 2009. Her last role was as Administrator in Medical Education, organising the training programme for Foundation Year Doctors, managing the ARCP process for Junior Doctors and the appraisal process for Registrars. Sarah has 9 years’ experience of working with Doctors.





MRS JO YEOMANS - Account Manager




Jo also has a NHS background, working for the NHS for a total of 11 years in a Medical staffing role. She has worked for HLS Ltd since February 2016 as an Account Manager and liaises with the Doctors on a day-to-day basis supporting them through the appraisal and revalidation process.






Miss Lisa Oakden - Account Manager



Lisa has worked at HLS Ltd since 2015. She worked for HLS Ltd for 2 years prior to her promotion to Account Manager in December 2017. Lisa also looks after a cohort of locum agencies assisting the doctors through the process.

A gastroenterologist in an Acute Hospital and previous Clinical Director. Dr Cox has many years of NHS experience and his own private practice.




DR IAN GRANT





A clinical Haematologist, Dr Grant works in an Acute Hospital and has worked at Responsible Officer / Medical Director level previously. He brings many years of experience to the role. Dr Grant also works for HLS Ltd as a trained appraiser.



PROFESSOR DEREK BURKE





Professor Burke is a Consultant in Emergency Paediatric Medicine and has over 30 years NHS experience. He is also a Responsible Officer and Medical Director in a Children’s Hospital.




DR ASHA SIMMONS





Dr Simmons is a Physician and previous Medical Director who brings a wealth of experience with her from her previous RO position
